Worship Support Opportunities

At First Lutheran we encourage all who feel moved to donate their time and talents to help us minister during and after worship.  If you feel so moved, please contact the church office and volunteer to assist in any of these important areas as you are able.  If you would like to join a ministry team, please follow the link HERE to see the full list of teams.

Worship Support

Acolytes
 – Children in grades 5th-8th are welcome to help acolyte for services.  Acolytes light and extinguish the candles at the opening and closing of each service, carry the crucifix for special festival services, and assist with communion on communion services.

Greeters
 – Greeters are the friendly faces you see every Saturday and Sunday before worship to welcome you to worship and hand you a bulletin or weekly short.

Ushers
 – Ushers help with the service by assisting the elder of the day with opening the church 30 minutes before worship, making sure that all card and envelop slots are stocked, greeting members and visitor before worship, collect the offerings, and assist with welcoming the congregation to the communion tables on communion services.

Lectors
 – Lectors assist in worship by reading the lessons from the from the front of the church.  Lectors will read the First and Second lessons of the week, and may sometimes be asked to read an additional psalm or other reading.

AV Tech – AV Techs are instrumental in keeping worship flowing by advancing the PowerPoint slides during worship, turning on and off microphones, and making sure the congregation can easily participate in worship.  No background in tech is needed, and easy training is provided for anyone who would like to volunteer.

Alter Guild

Members of the Altar Guild prepare altar area before worship and care for Communion ware. They also arrange for altar flowers, display banners, and prepare seasonal decorations.
