Opportunities To Serve

One of the guiding principles in the Christian life is that we are to be “producers of ministry, not just consumers of ministry.” Jesus Himself said that He didn't come to be served , but to serve. Below are just a few of the many ministries that need to be performed. Enrich your life. Volunteer.

  • Church Office Churches invariably have lots of copying, collating, folding, and mailing to be done. If you like working in a warm, light-hearted office environment, you'll like it here. Contact Jan W.
  • School Office Volunteering in the school office is similar to volunteering in a church office, except that you also get to be around young parents and children. Interested? Contact Patti C.
  • Worker Bees Our "Worker Bees" consist mostly of retirees who love to do odd jobs around campus. They paint, do yard work, and perform a variety of other needed services. And lest you think it's all work, you need to know they start off with coffee, doughnuts, and a devotion every time they meet. Contact Bill S.
  • Sound Booth The Bible says that "Faith comes by hearing." We always need need people to assist in the sound booth. This is a behind-the-scenes ministry that is extremely valuable and requires minimal technical expertise or training. Contact Ann H.
  • Greeters Nothing makes up for the warmth of a genuine welcome. And no one needs to experience that warmth any more than a first time visitor. If you like to let the love of Jesus shine through you, greeting people as they enter worship is for you. Contact Rick G.
  • Ushers Do you like to serve but don't have a lot of time throughout the week? Being an usher requires a minimal output of time, and brings a maximum of benefit to those worshipping. Contact Rick G.
  • Stephen Ministry Training for one-to-one Christian care to hurting people.Contact Dan S.
  • WD4T (Worship Drama for Truth) This group combines dramatic flair with multimedia to enhance worship services. The group is now in in its formative stage and is looking for people with a variety of skills. We need people who enjoy drama, a few people who are proficient with computer technology (especially PowerPoint , Photoshop, sound editing software, and video editing software), and anyone who enjoys digitalphtography. Educational Opportunities in the Parish

Personal spiritual growth is not optional for the child of God because we are either growing, or backsliding. For this reason, in addition to the educational opportunities offered by the day school, First Lutheran also offers a variety of educational opportunities throughout the week.

  • Sunday School is offered between services (9:15 am) for both children and adults. Pastor is currently leading the adult class through a study of the book of Acts.
  • Adult Information Pastor is also teaching a class on the basics of what Christians believe. Those who are who are already members will find this a great refresher class. And this is a "must attend" class for those who are considering joining the church as members.
  • Interested in a Book Study? Pastor is considering holding a class during the week if there's enough interest. If you would commit to 10 week class, please contact Pastor Z. with days and times that would work out best for you.
  • VBS (Vacation Bible School) is offered seasonally every summer in the Christian Life Center. For more information, to enroll your chidlren, or volunteer please contact Michelle P.
  • Winter VBS If you would be interessted in enrolling your chidlren in a winter VBS that would be held over Christmas vacation, please contact Michelle P.
